I’m Here for You…

My approach to therapy is one of warm and supportive empathy. I believe in validating your current journey in a space that is caring, safe, and free from judgement.

However, you can expect to be challenged! I am down to earth and show up authentically in my sessions so that you know you have a space where you can be open and honest. Although I may be the professional with years of experience and training, only you are the expert when it comes to your healing journey. I am only here to be a collaborator in your journey of self-discovery and growth.

My goal is to hold a space in which we can create an environment where you feel safe to explore all the topics that may be coming up for you in our work together.

This includes topics that are hard to talk about, like sex, relationship challenges, self-esteem, and your relationship with yourself.

Laura Duran, LPC

Owner, Founder

I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas.

I have worked in diverse mental health settings and have been practicing therapy since 2015.

I am the oldest daughter of immigrants and a first generation college graduate. From a very young age I felt the weight of expectations put on to me by my family, society, and my culture. I became very good at taking on roles that were not mine, and quickly burned myself out. It wasn’t until graduate school that I really allowed myself to explore the root of my unhappiness. I needed to stop doing for everyone else and finally make myself the priority; I mattered too.

I now enjoy empowering individuals to find their voice and discover the freedom that comes with letting go of past hurt and behaviors that no longer serve them, and finally pursue the life they’ve always wanted.

My Clinical Approaches

I practice from mixture of humanistic, cognitive, and trauma-informed perspectives. I take into consideration early childhood experiences, relationship histories and attachment patterns. I also find it important to identify current levels of functioning and coping in order to build a solid foundation of coping before exploring deeper rooted issues.

However in therapy my style is mostly integrative and intuitive, which means I use proven, evidence-based techniques from different therapies including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive-Processing Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma informed approaches, as well as mindfulness techniques and an insight-oriented approach when appropriate to help you gain more self-understanding.

I will utilize the many tools I have in my toolbox to customize your treatment in our work together to bring about the lasting changes that will increase your own self-awareness and well-being.

My goal is that you leave every session with techniques or something insightful to digest; that each session contains helpful actionable tools and tips, or that ‘aha’ moment that can lead to greater self-discovery.
